In Fall 2014, I took an awesome bike tour around town with Andrew Groocock of the Professional Tour Guide Association of Houston. We checked out some of the best sights of interest along the bike trails between Downtown Houston and the Heights. A few things may have changed, but by and large this is still a great route to take for a leisurely afternoon stroll or even a daily commute from the Heights to Downtown!

I’ll be sharing the videos capturing our tour throughout the Fall, which is always a great time to get outside and explore the city on two wheels. To get the ball rolling, I thought I’d introduce the first 3 parts of our tour. I hope you find some inspiration in these videos!

Below are Parts 2 and 3 of our tour with some basic info about the initial spots we checked out:

Pennzoil Place: A fantastic piece of modernist architecture designed by renowned American architect Philip Johnson.

Bank of America Center: Also designed by Philip Johnson, this building takes its inspiration from the merchant’s houses you’ll find along the canals in Amsterdam.

Skid Row: This stretch of downtown was given its name due to 5 of the buildings in the area being built by the architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

Chase Tower: World famous architect I.M. Pei designed this skyscraper which is the tallest skyscraper in Houston, and all of Texas.
