Rice Military is a Houston neighborhood located near the 610 Loop. The Rice part of the name refers to William Marsh Rice’s family, since they once owned the land where the neighborhood now sits. Military is a reference to Camp Logan, which was a World War I training facility located right next to the neighborhood. Camp Logan is now Memorial Park, which is a very attractive feature of living in Rice Military. The park’s golf course, tennis courts and jogging trail draw many fitness enthusiasts to the area. The neighborhood is also in close proximity to downtown Houston, the Galleria, Museum District and Washington Avenue. All these perks have made Rice Military an increasingly popular place of residence for young professionals and those without children.
